Surf Forecast - Hawaii

5 Day Surf Forecast

Forecast Updated:

Saturday, May 18, 2024 1:13 PM

Surf Scale: 3 ft = waist high, 4 ft = chest high, 5 ft = head high, 10 ft =double overhead
Swell Direction is direction swell is coming from. 90°=East, 180°=South, 270°=West, 360-0 = North

Forecast does NOT account for enhancing bathymetry (i.e the 'reef effect') common at best breaks. For top spots with swell period 14 +secs, multiply surf size X 1.25-1.5 with peaks X 2 (or consider the stated size 'Hawaiian Scale').

Outlook
Up slightly ---

A broad gale developed under New Zealand Wed-Thurs (5/9) with 37 ft seas aimed east-northeast. Swell fading Sun (5/19). Another tiny gale developed in the Central South Pacific Sat-Sun (5/12) with 33 ft seas aimed well northeast but not meaningful swell to result. And yet another stronger one developed under New Zealand lifting northeast over the Central South Pacific Sun-Tues (5/14) with seas building to 37 ft. Swell arrival on Sun (5/19). A good swell pattern is underway. And maybe another gale to transit the South Central Pacific Tues-Thurs (5/23) with seas to 34 ft aimed northeast.
